A Campus for the 21st Century UniversityA CAMPUS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
UNIVERSITY

The central building covering a usable floor area of about 11,500 square meters is the centerpiece of the master plan for the Leuphana campus. The new building is intended to be used as:

  • an auditorium,
  • a research center,
  • a student center,
  • a seminar center.

The central building sets new standards on the scene of public buildings in terms of design, sustainability and energy efficiency.

Use of central building for non-university purposes

Apart from being used for academic purposes, the new building will also serve as an event center for, among others, the City of Lüneburg. It therefore reflects the prominent role of the University in public life in Lüneburg.

The Christian churches and the Jewish community will both join in the process of designing and using an inter-religious room of silence.
