Enough room for creativity and conceptsENOUGH ROOM FOR
CREATIVITY AND CONCEPTS

A campus learning environment that provides intellectual stimulus by using space in a positive way takes the university's function of providing lifelong learning seriously. The campus becomes a joint learning environment and can contribute to the region's identity, which is a core element of our present-day understanding of learning.

At the same time, the central building assumes a representative function for both Leuphana University and the City of Lüneburg and offers the opportunity to host high-quality events and congresses at high occupancy rates. The targeted investment and involvement of all participants give the University and the region a push toward modernization and development with a visible and broadly felt effect.

Seminar rooms and new offices in the attic

Since 2007 the attic space, which until then had remained unused, has been developed step by step on the campus on Scharnhorststrasse. The objective is to ensure optimal use of existing space and to consolidate all locations of the University on the main campus by building the new central building.

Apart from the new offices and meeting rooms, bright seminar rooms for smaller groups, which are equipped with modern technology (e.g. fixed-installation beamer), provide an ideal work environment. This functional mixture encourages the exchange between students, lecturers and other staff members and facilitates working across departmental lines. In some attics there are even common rooms for students.

Up to now, the attics of Buildings 7, 11, 5 and 6 have been developed in chronological order. The development of the attic of Building 1 will be finalized soon. The attic of Building 14 will be developed next. Along with the attic, the ground floor and the first floor will be developed as well.

Multi-functional technical building

In the course of consolidating the individual locations on the main campus, a new technical building integrating all functions under one roof was constructed on the former parking lot of the University's canteen. Due to the required number of square meters and the functionalities to be provided at ground level, the new building had to be constructed as a single-story building. This is why the architects involved found it useful to also create new parking spaces. This allowed for an optimal use of space.

Apart from centralizing all technical functions, the new technical building also accommodates the students' Bicycle Repair Shop. This way students and staff members of Leuphana University of Lüneburg work next door to each other.
