Admissions ProcessADMISSIONS PROCESS

Leuphana University has developed a sophisticated admissions process for all major subjects and teacher education programs. This allows us to take into account the applicants’ special qualifications, skills and experiences in making admissions decisions.

Only a fixed number of students can be admitted to each discipline. At Leuphana University, this applies to all majors, to the minors in business psychology, digital media and culture, philosophy, and to the teacher education programs.

Admissions decisions will be based on the student's qualifications (90%) and on the student’s position in the waiting time ranking (10%). The admissions qualification process can be divided into two stages:

Stage 1: Grade point average of the university entrance certificate (previous transcript) and extra-curricular accomplishments

Stage 2: Results of the admissions test

(all majors) and in addition of the admissions interview (only in some majors)

The grade point average indicated on the university entrance certificate and special extra-curricular activities carry significant weight in the admissions decisions for all majors and teacher education programs. These criteria are relevant in the first stage of the admissions process.

If a second admissions stage is required, all applicants will be graded in accordance with a point system based on the results of stages 1 and 2 of the admissions process.

For "preferred admission" and "special quotas", see special cases in the navigation bar.

Foreign applicants from non-EU countries with a foreign university entrance certificate will be admitted under a “special quota.” These students will be subject to separate admissions arrangements (for further information, please click on the “International Applicants” button in the menu.
