Major Business PsychologyMAJOR BUSINESS PSYCHOLOGY

Bachelor´s Degree in Business Psychology

According to what criteria are purchase decisions made? How can cars be made safer while also raising operability and satisfaction for drivers? How can companies chose the best applicants? This is just a small selection of the questions that business psychologists seek to answer. As a student in the business psychology major, you would, for example, investigate what constitutes employee satisfaction and determine what leads to stress and strain. In general we can say that business psychologists analyze situations and use methods from the social- and natural sciences to find patterns in communication between individuals, groups, organizations and their environment.

The business psychology major is a genuine psychology degree program with a strong emphasis on the foundations of general and social psychology, as well as on personality and differential psychology. Psychological methods and behaviorally oriented business administration are also integrated into the program. The course work focuses on the application of psychological theories and methods to explain and predict the experiences and behaviors of people making economic decisions.

Educational Goals

The program in business psychology provides students with the academic expertise, methodological skills and communicative abilities required for professional work as a business psychologist. Graduates have gained the ability to apply their knowledge and understanding as well as to work out and develop solutions and technical statements. They will have gained expertise in the branches of labor and engineering psychology, environmental and traffic psychology, advertising and consumer psychology as well as personnel and organizational psychology. The study of psychology is closely intertwined with the foundations of business administrative decision-making processes. The courses are developed and taught by trained psychologists and business administrators. A supervised internship allows students to test classroom learning in the business world.
