The Minor Business Economics

Management skills are increasingly an indispensible additional requirement for working successfully in a responsible position—and even when the professional functions are outside the typical commercial occupations. People, who take leadership positions—whether in economics, the social sciences, behavioral research, environmental science, the humanities or in the technology sector—all profit from business administrative expertise.
The minor in business economics conveys compactly a basic knowledge of economic questions and procedures from the perspective of business. In addition to a basic understanding of businesses in a market economy, you will acquire an understanding of financial corporate strategy as well as central management and business processes. In the second, third and fourth semesters you will work on the foundations of financial governance of corporations. In the fourth and fifth semesters we will treat central management and business processes. The module integration seminar is structured so that in the fifth semester the expertise acquired in the previous semesters can be applied to various practical situations.
The minor in business economics is designed for students, who wish to expand their expertise from other areas with basic management skills. Thus, the minor rounds out a major in economics, by complementing economic knowledge with a business perspective. For technical or behavioral research majors and for students, who later wish to be active in the cultural sciences or the environmental sciences, the minor in business economics creates the opportunity to acquire important business administrative skills required for management decisions.
