The Minor Information Technology: Global Information Systems

Modern information and communications technologies are becoming ever more extensive and complex, and at the same time they are being used by ever more people. No business can get by without a technical information system. Understanding how to operate information systems has become indispensable for many professions.
The information technology minor is intended especially for students, who wish to supplement their specialized knowledge of their major with a comprehensive knowledge of computer science—for example, because they need computer science expertise in their field of study (such as engineering students) or because a fundamental understanding of the challenges presented by information and communication technologies will form an important basis for their future professional life.
The curriculum of the minor covers important knowledge of information technology—this includes for example computer architectures and operating systems, data banks and programming. All necessary methodological knowledge is presented in the context of individual modules. You can take elective courses targeted toward specific groups: for students in technical fields there are courses in software, distributed systems or embedded systems. In addition students can select from further computer science modules targeted at specific fields.
