Daniel Libeskind is an internationally renowned architect who has developed groundbreaking architectural concepts and designs all over the world. His major architectural works include the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the Felix Nussbaum House in Osnabrück, the Denver Art Museum, and the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester. In 2003, Libeskind won the competition to be the master plan architect for the reconstruction of Ground Zero in New York City.

In the summer of 2007, Libeskind accepted his appointment as a Visiting Professor at Leuphana University of Lüneburg, providing a permanent enrichment of a university whose profile in teaching and research has long been marked by an interdisciplinary focus. His commitment to campus aesthetics is not restricted to his teaching activities: he also developed the design for the new central building.

  • Since 2007: Visiting Professor at Leuphana University of Lüneburg

  • 1989: Founded architecture office in Berlin
  • In 1970, he earned his degree in Architecture from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City, and in 1972, he received a postgraduate degree in History and Theory of Architecture in Essex. 
  • Studied music in Israel (on a scholarship from the America Israel Cultural Foundation) and in New York; became a professional musician and, later on, switched from music to architecture.
