Sustainability Research Initiative

Ph.D. research, both in the natural sciences and in the human sciences, is regularly carried out and completed within the Academic Initiative on Sustainability. The foundation of the doctoral study and the Ph.D. procedure are the doctoral guidelines. The faculty can grant the following doctoral degrees in so far as they comply with the conditions (cfr. § 1 Paragraph 1. of the doctoral guidelines): Dr.rer.nat., Dr. rer.pol., Dr, pfil. and Dr. jur. (Environmental Sciences).

Doctorate

Doctoral candidates must register for doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Leuphana University Lüneburg. The doctoral program can be completed as an extension of the part-time study program.

If you want to pursue a doctoral degree in the academic initiative on sustainability, then it is important that you find a faculty advisor for you proposed project before you apply.

You may chose from the professors in the academic initiative on sustainability, who research in their respective discipline and teach in the Master’s program of Leuphana University Lüneburg.

The topic of the dissertation must be chosen from the respective concentrations of the initiative on sustainability and must have a connection to the topic of sustainability, conservation of the environment and nature.
