Academic JurisdictionsACADEMIC JURISDICTIONS

The four faculties are responsible for carrying out doctoral procedures. They name members of the doctoral commission that examines the applications and approves the admissions.

The doctoral commission, in turn, names a doctoral committee for each candidate. The doctoral committee validates the doctoral procedure; it consists of three experts in the field. One member of the committee serves as the candidate's advisor, another committee member should be from another university that also confers doctoral degrees or from a recognized, independent research institute.

All doctoral degrees are conferred under the auspices of the Leuphana Graduate School. The Graduate School coordinates the course offerings of the semi-structured doctoral program.
