Arts & SciencesARTS & SCIENCES

In the research-oriented Arts & Sciences master's program, three majors are offered: (1) Public Economics, Law & Politics, (2) Sustainability Sciences and (3) Culture, Arts and Media.

All majors share a common structure. Within the in-depth area of study, students can set their own priorities in terms of interests and professional goals, for example by choosing the Sustainability Sciences major with focus on natural sciences and the humanities; the Public  Economics, Law and Politics (PELP) major combining legal, economic and social science perspectives; or the Culture, Arts and Media major with focus on art and visual culture as well as on media culture and communication.

The disciplinary course offerings available within each major are supplemented by an area of integration having a cross-disciplinary and problem-focused perspective: this is where the individual in-depth areas of study are integrated into interdisciplinary modules.

The master’s program curriculum is complemented by a cross-disciplinary Complementary Studies program and, in addition, by the area of Master’s Forum & Research Perspectives. The latter includes one module per semester in which students learn to do their own research and acquire fundamental knowledge of methods. Based on this intensive preparation phase, students complete their master’s studies in the fourth semester by writing their master’s thesis.
