With respect to all other master’s programs, the information listed on the Master pages apply. The admission requirements for the master’s degree programs differ from one another only in terms of their disciplinary requirements. In all other respects, the master’s programs are subject to the same requirements.

To obtain a transcript of records, you must contact your home university. A transcript of records documents your academic performance by listing all courses taken and grades received during the course of your studies. Transcripts of records are usually prepared by all universities maintaining international ties. In any case, such transcript is indispensable because the admissions committee must get an idea of the knowledge you have acquired so far. If needed, you can prepare your own transcript of records by listing all courses taken and grades awarded; however, the transcript must be certified and stamped by your examination office. Please allow sufficient time for this.

Only the bachelor’s degree certificate and the transcript of records need to be certified. With all other documents (i.e. proof of English language knowledge, Abitur certificate, documentary evidence of occupational activities), submission of an uncertified copy will be sufficient. The original documents must then be presented upon enrollment.

As indicated in the admission application form, you must choose one major. Double applications will not be considered. Likewise, it is not possible to change your major after admission to your chosen program of study.

Please note that the above rules do not apply to the Teacher Training program.

Yes, you have to. You can’t submit it later. In contrast to the Leuphana bachelor’s programs, the Leuphana master’s programs do not allow students to take the English test in the ongoing semester. If, at the time of your application, no proof of English language skills has been received, your application will not be considered.
There is only one exception: If, after the first round of admissions, there are still positions remaining in your chosen major, late applications will be considered.

However, we strongly recommend that you do not rely on being admitted in the second round of admissions. Instead, we advise you to apply for the required documents proving your English language skills well in advance. At Leuphana you have the opportunity to prepare for the TOEIC test and take the test in time. All certificates and documents must be submitted by June 1, except for your undergraduate degree certificate. At the time of your application, you must have fulfilled at least 81% of the course requirements of your first degree program and you must furnish proof of the grades awarded. In this case, you must first prove your academic performance by submitting a transcript of records and then submit a copy of your undergraduate degree certificate.

If any of the required certificates or documents is missing on June 1, your application is deemed invalid and will not be considered in the admission process. In some majors it might happen that there are still positions remaining after the first round of admissions (including the accepted students’ replies). In this case the application process will be reopened for late applicants. However, neither the Graduate School nor the Admissions Office can make any prediction about whether or not this will occur and, if so, in which majors this might be the case. So prepare your application well ahead of time and make sure that it is received by June 1 – this is the best way of increasing your chances of being admitted to your chosen master’s program.

If you consider further qualifications relevant, you can send your résumé and mark the relevant sections. Please make a handwritten note of this in the application.

Documents can be submitted in German or English.

The answer depends on various aspects, such as the number of applications submitted. As a rule, notification of acceptance should be given four weeks after the application deadline. Notification of rejection is given approximately eight weeks after the application deadline.

As you can imagine, this question is difficult, if not impossible, to answer, given that the final number of applications and their quality cannot be determined until the last day of the application period and varies from year to year. In general, your chances are best if you have achieved a very good grade point average in your first degree program, submitted a complete application, and established a clear relation between your first degree program and your chosen major. So please understand that university staff members can make no predictions of your chances of being accepted.

You will have to register anew for the Master’s program and then pay the relevant dues and fees. The Master’s represents a new program of study. In the case of a student who reregistered for the Bachelor program, before the start of the Master’s program, the payments can be transferred.

For questions regarding registration, re-registration, leaves and fee payments, you should directly contact the responsible staff member in the Registrar’s Office as soon as possible. They can provide you with precise, official information for every aspect of your university studies.
