what is the incubator?WHAT IS THE INCUBATOR?

The Lüneburg Innovation Incubator – a project that is unique in Europe – aims to promote the economy in the former governmental area of Lüneburg  ("Convergence Region"). This business development project has been launched jointly by Leuphana University of Lüneburg and the German Federal State of Lower Saxony. It is funded by the European Union in the amount of nearly 64 million Euro allocated by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF); the Federal State of Lower Saxony provides funding in the amount of 22 million Euro.

 

Highest priority is given to creating and securing jobs in sustainable industries as well as to strengthening the research and development potential of small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. The Incubator project also aims to provide highly qualified graduates for the labour market.

To achieve these objectives, a large number of innovation projects will be realized within the scope of this EU-funded major project by implementing a total of 16 coordinated sub-measures at Leuphana University of Lüneburg until 2015.
