Within the next two years the Charles University Environment Center (CUEC) in Prague and the Institute for Environmental and Sustainability Communication (INFU, Leuphana University Lüneburg) will develop and implement a two semester blended learning study program for bachelor students. Last week Prof. RNDr. Bedřich Moldan and Prof. Dr. Gerd Michelsen signed the project´s cooperation contract in Prague.

The study program intends to offer an interdisciplinary and international learning environment for students to acquire competencies for contributing actively and shaping a sustainable development. It will consist out of three concerted eLearning modules providing the background for the students to participate in a concluding summer school which will take place in the Czech-German borderland. During the different eLearning modules students will work collaboratively on future and sustainability related topics, analyze consequences of global change and acquire corresponding competencies. In the summer school students will participate in lectures on methodological instruments and apply their knowledge afterwards in international and interdisciplinary teams to real problem cases in the borderland and elaborate sustainable possibilities of solutions.

“This project is an important step towards the internationalization of teaching and learning” Gerd Michelsen stated. The project continues the fruitful cooperation between the CUEC and INFU during recent years and projects. It is funded by Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU).
