Irina Pandarova is a Ph.D. student and research assistant at the Institute of English Studies, where she also teaches English linguistics. She obtained a first-class B.A. degree in English philology and classical archaeology from Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in 2010, and a first-class M.A. degree in English language and linguistics from Queen’s University Belfast in 2011. In her Ph.D. thesis “Hedging and Boosting as Communicative Strategies in British and Irish English: A Corpus-Based Study of Pragmatic Variation in the Use of Epistemic Adverbs” she investigates the context-dependent variation in the use of epistemic adverbs.
