The Methodology Center is an inter-departmental facility at Leuphana University, whose focus is on disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching, research and handling of methodological issues. The objective of the Center is to provide support for students at all levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD, and beyond) with respect to education and training in methods.
This broad spectrum includes quantitative methods in the natural sciences, empirical social and economic research, applied statistics, qualitative social and cultural scientific methods and methods in inter- and transdisciplinary research. The Methodology Center also aims to support and help researchers across all disciplines in the application and development of scientific methods.
Here at the Methodology Center, students can acquire expertise that complements and deepens the methods training provided in the degree programs. The diverse number of events on offer makes it possible for students from all degree programs and at every stage in their education to strengthen their individual profile in methodological skills. Through seminars, training events and workshops, the Center teaches and practices methods that can facilitate students’ own applications in their thesis and research work.
The Methodology Center offers support and guidance throughout the course of study Leuphana - from the “Leuphana Semester” project seminar until graduation. Our goal is simple: to help students achieve the methodological knowledge and skills they require for successful application in coursework and beyond.
The Methodology Center cooperates closely with the different faculties and schools at Leuphana University Lueneburg. Assistance to Leuphana Bachelor and Master degree programs is given within the complementary studies and specialized courses of the faculties. To improve the quality of teaching and research methods, the members of the Center for Methods employ team-teaching and regular workshop discussions, as well as collaborative research with colleagues from the faculties.
The broad spectrum of research forms, subjects and disciplines represented at the Methodology Center creates a research space in which active questioning of interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and “undisciplinary” research methods takes place and the further development of research methods can occur. Members of the Center also carry out methods research within the sphere of disciplinary sciences.
