about us
The Institute for Environmental and Sustainability Communication (INFU)
The Institute for Environmental & Sustainability Communication is part of the Faculty of Environment and Technology at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg which has recently merged with the Lüneburg University of Applied Science. Founded in 1996, the Institute is by now being involved in the substantial changes the University is facing: Within the scope of the European Bologna process, the Leuphana University of Lüneburg develops modern, innovative study programs with internationally recognized bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
The Institute for Environmental & Sustainability Communication participates in this process. At the same time, it meets the challenges of a sustainable development by creating innovative, sustainability-related study programs as well as by developing concepts and theories to enhance individual, institutional and collective sustainability competencies.
Thus, research and education focus on the overall concept of Sustainability via four main working areas:
- Communication & Sustainable Development
- Participation & Sustainable Development
- New Media & Sustainable Development
- Policy & Sustainable Development
In order to support our students, we offer a wide range of courses and organize conferences, workshops and series of lectures on the ongoing discourse about the current and future sustainable society. Considering recent developments in cognitive science we intend to initiate new learning cultures, characterised by open, inter- and transdisciplinary learning processes.
