SUMMARY:OPENING (2/2): Career Paths with A Doctorate
DESCRIPTION:What career options are available after the doctorate within an
d beyond academia?\n\nThis workshop provides an overview of career paths fo
r researchers across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. A particul
ar focus lies on making non-academic careers less of a “black box” by discu
ssing typical roles, required skills, and transition possibilities.\n\nIn a
ddition, the workshop introduces a practical framework for iteratively iden
tifying which jobs, sectors, and work environments could be a good fit base
d on participants’ own strengths, values, interests, and skill sets using s
elf-reflection, networking techniques, LinkedIn, and AI tools as part of th
e exploration process.\n\n---\n\nDr. Anne Schreiter is Executive Director o
 f GSO – Guidance, Skills & Opportunities for Researchers e.V., a nonprofit
organization supporting researchers at transitional stages of their careers
. Anne earned her PhD in Organizational Sociology from the University of St
. Gallen and conducted postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley. She also serve
