Industrial Engineering

Curriculum

The six-semester degree program (3 years, 180 credit points) begins with the Leuphana Semester, which all students complete together. Specialization in a major and a minor begins in the second semester. The major forms the subject concentration of the program with five academic semesters whose core consists of the required modules (of the concentration). The minor complements the subject concentration with a second field of knowledge. In addition to the academic fields of the major and minor, all students, from the second semester on, complete the interdisciplinarily structured comprehensive studies program together.

  • final degree: Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.)
  • standard course length: 6 semester
  • deadline for applications: 15 July of each year
  • beginning of the course: October of each year (winter semester)
  • semester abroad: possible

If you have chosen production engineering as your concentration, then you will need to take the following required modules over the course of your studies in the industrial engineering major:

  • Mathematics 2 for Engineers
  • Electrical Engineering 2
  • Technical Mechanics 2
  • Material Sciences and Production Engineering 1
  • Electrical Engineering 3
  • Design and CAD
  • Materials Management
  • Material Sciences and Production Engineering
  • Manufacturing Technologies
  • Machine Tools
  • Applied Project Management
  • Production systems

If you have decided to concentrate in automation engineering, then you will need to take the following required modules over the course of your studies in the industrial engineering major:

  • Mathematics 2 for Engineers
  • Electrical Engineering 2
  • Electronics
  • Technical Mechanics 2
  • Tutorial in Electrical Engineering/Electronics
  • Process Measurement
  • Technical Optics
  • Foundations of Information Technology
  • Elective (for IT minors)
  • Control Engineering
  • Introduction to Measurement and Control Engineering
  • Process Data Processing
  • Electrical Drives

There are two elective modules within the program. They may be taken in the fourth and fifth semesters. Students have the opportunity to determine their own concentration.

The content of these elective modules depends on the current developments and the research interests of the faculty.

With emphasis in production engineering:

  • Automation engineering
  • E-Business
  • Business Economics
