6th Biannual German-South African Dialogue on Democracy

The 6th Biannual German-South African Dialogue on Democracy will be held at Leuphana together with Stellenbosch University, the University of the Western Cape, the University of Mannheim and the Technical University of Dresden on July 7 and 8, 2022 on the topic "Transformative Constitutionalism: Common Pathway for a Sustainable Future?".

The conference will start with a public lecture by Prof. Dr Andreas Paulus, former judge of the Federal Constitutional Court. He will shed light on the Court’s Climate Decision and its transformative potential one year after its enactment. On Friday, we will address the theoretical basis of transformative constitutionalism, developed mainly in South Africa, its concrete manifestations and its practical relevance in times of climate change and sustainability goals.

The public lecture will take place on thursday, the 7th of july in Lecture Hall 3 at 6 p.m.
