SUMMARY:IMPACT – What are the effects of my research in academia and societ
 y?
DESCRIPTION:The category “impact” is becoming increasingly more important a
 t national and European level: politicians and funding organisations want t
 o ensure that public funds are used efficiently, and that research has a be
 nefit for society. To remain competitive, researchers must be able to demon
 strate the academic and societal impact of their work.\n\nBut impact is com
 plex, as it can be a result of many different factors and agents. Moreover,
  it often becomes evident only after a time span of years or even decades. 
 Therefore, we will first discuss different types of impact and ask how they
  can be planned, monitored, and communicated. We will then look at requirem
 ents of funding programmes and explore how impact is related to research co
 mmunication and transfer activities. This will be supported by the introduc
 tion of formats for communication measures and tools for the indication of 
 impact.
