SUMMARY:Let's talk Karriere: Science meets Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION:The “Let’s Talk Career” series invites alumni with doctoral deg
rees to discuss entering the workforce outside of academia and the pivotal
moments in their career journeys. To offer a broader range of opportunities
and perspectives, we regularly collaborate with other universities: “Let’s
Talk Career Meets…” is a joint initiative of the graduate schools at the u
niversities of Clausthal, Jena, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Münster, and Lüneburg.
At the University of Leipzig’s “Coffee Conversation,” academia and business
come together:\n\nHow do you make the transition from science to entrepren
eurship? In this “coffee conversation”, two founders talk about their perso
nal journeys between research, funding and start-up development – authentic
ally, approachably and with plenty of room for questions.\n\nTo kick things
off, Dr. Christian Sonnendecker, co-founder of ESTER Biotech, will talk ab
out his current transitional phase: still employed at Leipzig university an
d funded by EXIST Research Transfer, his team is already working intensivel
y on the spin-off. He will provide insights into how a scientific idea beco
mes a company – and what opportunities and challenges this transition holds
.\n\nA female founder (to be announced) will add to the perspective and sho
w one example for how female scientists are shaping their path to self-empl
oyment.\n\nThe event offers scientists considering to leave academia, inter
ested in founding or just in general the opportunity to talk directly to th
ese two role models and ask their own questions.\n\nOrganizer: Academic sta
ff development, University of Leipzig\n\nContact person: Dr. Nicole Koburge
