SUMMARY:When Expectations Clash: Navigating Conflict during the PhD
DESCRIPTION:The PhD journey comes with a wide range of academic and persona
l challenges. Doctoral researchers often work within complex supervisory an
d organizational structures in which high performance expectations, unclear
agreements, as well as differing needs, expectations, and interests can le
ad to tension and conflict.\n\nIn this workshop, we will explore\n\nhow con
flicts emerge and develop, how to better recognize your own needs, interests
, and boundaries, how to navigate differing needs, interests, and expectatio
ns,which communication strategies can foster clarity and mutual understandi
ng,and how to distinguish between the factual and emotional dimensions of d
ifficult conversations.\n\nThe workshop combines conceptual input with inte
ractive exercises and practical suggestions for your everyday life. In a co
nfidential setting, you will have the opportunity to reflect on and share y
our own experiences and try out different approaches to dealing with confli
ct.\n\nAll doctoral candidates are warmly invited. Everything discussed in
during the workshop remains strictly confidential.\n\nDepending on the grou
p, the workshop will be held in English or German.\n\n\n\nThis is a joint i
nitiative by the Leuphana Graduate School and the Counselling Service of th
 e Studierendenwerk OstNiedersachsen.\n\n\n\n
