Welcome at Leuphana Graduate School

We warmly invite you to the Digital Masters Kick-off 2020! The Team of the Graduate School welcomes you to the Digital Masters Kick-off of your Master's studies at Leuphana on 7th and 8th October. This year's Masters Kick-off also offers you many opportunities for orientation and networking, for getting to know each other and for exchanging ideas. In addition to information about your curriculum, we invite you to discuss with your fellow students how you would like to design your studies.

2nd October: Webkonferences myStudy and Complementary Studies

10:30 am web conference on myStudy and qis

On Friday, a zoom conference on complementary studies will take place. Here the Leuphana study model with the complementary studies will be explained in more detail. After a short break there will an explanation of myStudy and qis at 11 a.m. Via myStudy you can manage and choose your courses, at qis you can register and deregister for your exams.

The conference room is open for you from 9:50 am. At the end of each presentation you have the opportunity to ask questions. Please enter your name when entering the conference room. The presentation will be held in English, questions can be asked in German and English. You can register here.

You can also get to know the campus with the App Actionbound. To do so, please choose one slot in during registration. The guided tours take place in groups of 10 in time slots provided for this purpose.

Flexible: Self guided City Tour through Lüneburg

If you would like to meet personally in a small group, you can do so, for example, on a guided tour of Lüneburg. We have put together a student city tour for you, which you can conduct independently and flexibly with your newly acquainted fellow students using the App Actionbound. You find the guide for the City Tour here.

5th October

09:00 - 10:00 am Mystery Breakfast

Get to know your fellow students in small groups of three from the comfort of your home at breakfast! You will be randomly assigned to two more people from all masters programmes at Zoom. We will give you a few orientation questions to get to know each other, which you can use, but do not have to.

10:15 - 11:45 am Welcome for Internationals

For international students the start at Leuphana is something special, because it is usually also the first study at a university in Germany. Therefore, the International Office welcomes the Internationals here in an extra session and deals with the special situation.

12:00 pm Educational Expectations Workshop

Leuphana's understanding of education, the scientific, technical and personal development are closely linked. Together with your fellow students and a tutor from your study programme, you have the opportunity to deal with the requirements of your study programme and your expectations and ideas for your Masters programme. During the workshop you will get to know your fellow students by discussing questions such as:
- What do I expect from my Master's programme?
- What can I do to make this Master's programme an inspiring phase of life for me and for others?
- What kind of contribution can lectureres and institutions at Leuphana make?
The group results will be visualized and presented to the university public during the closing event.

4:00 pm Closing Event

Presentation of the results of the various workshops, and alumni of the Graduate School report about their experiences in professional life, their career start, what inspired them and what they were able to gain from their studies.

Student ID card

The student ID card, which has been sent to you in advance, is not only a ticket for the buses in Lüneburg and the regional trains throughout Lower Saxony, but also allows you to have lunch in the canteen at the student price.
