Copernicus Alliance - European Network on Higher Education for Sustainable Development

CORPENICUS Alliance is a European network of universities and colleges with the aim of transformational teaching and transition for sustainable development.

GCSO - Global Consortium for Sustainability Outcomes

The GCSO is a global network which advances solutions for sustainability issues through research, development and capacity-building. It produces and tests a broad range of solutions including technology, politics, economic incentives, social transition and cultural practices. ISDL - Institute for Sustainable Development and Learning

The Institute for Sustainable Development and Learning (ISDL) is a central, cross-faculty institution at Leuphana University of Lüneburg aiming to research and support transdisciplinary learning processes for sustainable development. In our work we systematically put the South-North dimension of transdisciplinary learning processes in sustainable development at the core of our activities and actively contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As an inter-faculty body, we strive to evolve into a national as well as international platform that enables evidence-generating research and supports the evidence-based application of findings, in close collaboration with partners from the Global South. For more information click here.

NaWis - Network for Sustainable Science

Climate and environmental issues have long surpassed all disciplinary boundaries. They demand close collaboration of the natural and technical sciences with the social and human sciences. Only this way can we shape the transition to a sustainable society. In the international context many initiatives have developed with a focus on inter- and transdisciplinary sustainability sciences. In Germany this form of science is still in its infancy. This is the starting point of the “NaWi”- group, carried by the universities of Lüneburg and Kassel, the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy as well as the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies. The goal of the network is to assist transdisciplinary sustainability science in the German science system - in universities as well as in non-university research institutions. NEPS - International Network of Programs in Sustainability

The International Network for Programs in Sustainability (NEPS) was launched in 2015. This program is promoted by the Robert Bosch Foundation’s college “Process of Sustainability Transformation”.  Joint learning with a focus on impactful, hands-on change is a key priority for this network, which includes the following institutions:

  • Arizona State University, School of Sustainability
  • Lund University, Centre for Sustainability Studies
  • Maastricht University, International Centre for Integrated assessment and Sustainable development (ICIS)
  • Stellenbosch University
  • University of Tokyo, Integrated Research System for Sustainability Science (IR3S)
  • Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Institute of Sustainability
  • Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Graduate Program on Sustainability Science (PCS)

Together with the Robert-Bosch-Foundation the Leuphana University formed the research college "Processes of Sustainability Transformation". It is the first of its kind in which research projects from different disciplines, viewing transformation processes towards sustainability in a systematic and comprehensive way, are conducted in cooperation with and funded by the Robert-Bosch-Foundation. The central question is that of the requirements for successful transformations: What can you learn from successful processes within different disciplines? What do you learn from failed or stagnating processes? How do dynamics evolve in the varying areas over time and space?  For more information click here.

YCSB - Yunus Centre for Social Business and Values

The Yunus Centre for Social Business and Values (YCSB) is an inter- and transdisciplinary centre at the Leuphana University Lüneburg. It is part of a network of 82 Yunus Centres around the world, inspired and supported by the Nobel Peace Prize winner Prof. Muhammad Yunus. The YCSB at Leuphana University was founded in 2019 on the initiative of Prof. Günther Strunk, Dominique Dauster, Manouchehr Shamsrizi and Prof. Markus Reihlen. For more information click here.
