How does the placement test work

This internet-based test takes a maximum of 30 minutes. It is made up of listening and reading comprehension as well as grammar and vocabulary exercises with fill-in-the-blank and multiple choice questions.

How can I prepare for the test?

No preparation for the test is necessary.

When is the next placement test?

You can take the placement test at the Language Center's Self-Access Center (SLZ) (Universitätsallee 1, Building 5, Room 104). Please check their current opening hours ahead of time.

How can I find out my result?

You will find out your test results immediately after completing the placement test. Please make note of your test results. In addition, you will receive confirmation of your results via email within one week. It would be a good idea to keep your test result in a safe place.

How many times am I allowed to retake the placement test?

As a rule, you are allowed to take the test no more than once per semester. Since the test is standardized, if you did retake it, your score would change only minimally.
