DSH Exam

DSH stands for “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang für ausländische Studierende,” a German language proficiency test for non-native speakers of German who wish to enroll in a degree program offered by a university or related institution in Germany. This test is conducted at the ZeMoS in March and September.

German as a Foreign Language (Deutsch als Fremdsprache, DaF) offers a variety of classes, workshops, and events for Leuphana students and for other individuals with an academic background. Further information is available here.

Language tandems

A language tandem is one of the most enjoyable ways to improve your language competencies. Additionally you will gain and/or expand your knowledge about and experience with other cultures. We define ‘language tandem’ as a mutual exchange in language learning. Or simply said: "You help me to improve my language and I will help you improve yours. This will help us understand each other better.” Tandem is language learning based on partnership and autonomy. Guests (participants who are not regular students or exchange students) can also register for courses as long as they have an academic background.

Further information on the language tandem can be found here.

Ph.D./research

International Ph.D. students and Leuphana employees can enroll in courses on German as a Foreign Language to acquire German language skills or to improve their current skills. The design of these courses allows for personal consultations and great flexibility with regard to study time. The courses include A1 classes for beginners and individuals with little background knowledge as well as a B1/B2 classes for more advanced learners.

Summeruniversity

Another possibility for learning German is the international summer university. Scheduled for August, summer universities offer four-week German as a Foreign Language courses from levels A1 to C1. Further information about the summer university is available here.
