Events

In the summer semester, there will once again be a variety of events for all those interested in languages. Among them are the weekly language cafés for different languages.

  • In the language cafés you can improve your communication skills in the respective foreign language with the help of native speakers in a relaxed atmosphere and become more relaxed about talking in a foreign language.
  • The learning groups are intended as a support and meeting place for self-learners in the field of foreign languages.

In addition, our new event series "MondiALLE" will take place for the first time.

You can find more information on the different events as well as the registration below.

Guided self-study group

Every Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. the SLZ offers a self-study group supported by tutors.

The self-study group brings together students who want to learn a language independently and support each other. The tutors are available to answer questions and give useful tips. Since the two tutors are Russian speakers, the focus of the self-study group is on Russian learners, but all other languages are welcome. The advantage of this is that a fixed date in the week creates a certain commitment, which increases motivation in language learning and the group can support each other.

MondiALLE

In the summer semester 2022, the Self Access Centre will be organising an international evening on the last Friday of every month, where all those interested in languages will have the opportunity to come together in a relaxed atmosphere. The focus is on language and cultural exchange. The activities as well as the locations will vary every month. Whether you want to actively participate in the activities or simply use the space to improve your language skills and get in touch with new people in a relaxed atmosphere is up to you. Another special feature is that everyone has the opportunity to write their own name on a piece of paper, as well as the languages in which they would like to be addressed. A certain language level is not required for participation.

Dates and Activities

MondiALLE takes place every last Friday of the month and each date has a different motto.

29.04.2022 7pm: Game eveing & music exchange (Mensawiese)
On the first evening, we will meet on the "Mensawiese" in front of building 5. The evening is themed around games and music! Various games will be played that are not tied to a specific language and are primarily designed for communication. There will also be a Spotify playlist where everyone can add their favourite songs (whether in their mother tongue or another). Please feel free to already send us your music wishes when you register. You can find out how to register below. Please also bring drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) with you.

Flyer first evening

27.05.2022 7pm: International bazaar & live-music (building 9, 1st floor)
The second evening combines to great things: live-music and food! There will be an open stage where everyone who wants to can perform. For the opening we have the students rock-band "Lavanda"!  Afterwards it's open-house, so that other people can jam, too. If you want to join us with your group, please send us an email (slz@leuphana.de)! Additionally, there will be a bazaar. For this purpose, everyone is invited to bring a typical dish from their own culture. We will prepare something as well, but we are also looking forward to the snacks, drinks and dishes that you bring to share with everyone!
Important note: This event is a free event, organized by the tutors of the SLZ, but since we don't get any funding from the university, we rely on everyone to contribute a little to the international bazaar, or to put something in our donation box. As the event will be held indoors, please bring proof of a negative Corona rapid test.

Flyer second evening

24.06.2022: Latin Night & Festa Junina (Mensawiese)
Soon it's that time again, our third evening MondiALLE is coming up. This time the motto is Latino Night and Festa Junina! That means there will be a lot of Latin vibes: Besides music from Latin America, there will also be live Bossa Nova music and we have prepared a little Salsa workshop for all who are interested (of course beginner-friendly). There will also be a small fire with lots of corn for the Brazilian June festival São João. Feel free to bring other food if you want to throw something else on the grill. Below you will find the flyer in English and German. We are looking forward to seeing you!
