 nd the idealized image of “becoming a professor”?\n\n\n\nThis workshop prov
 ides an overview of academic career paths within the German research system
 , including professorships at public and private universities, universities
  of applied sciences (HAWs), as well as alternative academic roles and empl
 oyment models.\n\nA particular focus lies on understanding the implicit rul
 es, structural realities, and less visible dynamics of academic careers in 
 Germany, including temporary contracts, competition, mobility expectations,
  publication pressure, networking, and institutional cultures.\n\nIn additi
 on, the workshop provides practical strategies for positioning yourself mor
 e consciously and strategically for the next career step.\n\n---\n\nDr. Ann
 e Schreiter is Executive Director of GSO – Guidance, Skills & Opportunities
  for Researchers e.V., a nonprofit organization supporting researchers at t
 ransitional stages of their careers. Anne earned her PhD in Organizational 
 Sociology from the University of St. Gallen and conducted postdoctoral rese
 arch at UC Berkeley. She also serves on the advisory boards of the German P
 ostdoc Network and the Science Management Network.
