Arrival by bus

Lüneburg is located on the train line between Hannover and Hamburg. You can travel to Lüneburg from Hamburg every half hour and from Hannover once an hour. Lüneburg is within the commuter zone for the Hamburg rapid transit system (HVV).

  • Departing from the Lüneburg train station, two different buses travel to the Scharnhorststraße campus.  They each leave every fifteen minutes. You can take either bus 5011 (towards Rettmer/Häcklingen) or bus 5012 (towards Bockelsberg). You need to get off the bus at the Blücherstraße stop.
  • A university shuttle bus, number 5001, runs during the semester from the train station to the Universitätsallee Campus and the Rotes Feld Campus.
  • For lectures at Volgershall you can take bus number 5013 towards Reppenstedt.

Ride-Share Service

In the evening when buses are no longer running (after 9:00pm), the ASM ride-share service is available, which brings Leuphana students to their destination until 1:00 AM on workdays and Saturday nights/Sunday mornings until 3:00 AM for a reduced fare. You need to call in your desired destination to the ASM-dispatcher at least 30 minutes before the planned departure time. The phone number is +49.4131.533.44. The rates, schedules and drop-off locations are listed on the ASM-website.

Arrival by car

While on-campus parking is limited, public transportation in Lüneburg is excellent. Our three Leuphana campuses are very well connected to Lüneburg’s bus and railway network. Join in the Leuphana spirit of a sustainable campus and contribute to environmental protection by using the local transportation network or a bicycle.
A bicycle is the most popular means of transport on and to the campus. In front of each building and lecture hall are bicycle stands, and there is Kon-RAD, a student-run repair shop. On-campus, at the railway station and in the city you will find Stadt-RAD (Sharing Concept) bikes.
