Academic Initiative in Management and Entrepreneurship

Research at the pulse of time: We work on the megatrends of the present.

By connecting management, business informatics, engineering, and psychology, Economics and Law we unite disciplinary strengths into a unique interdisciplinary profile of individual, organizational, technological, and societal perspectives that shed light on the intersections of management and technology. In doing so, we pioneer understandings of and solutions to the core challenges of our time, such the digitalization, demographic change, and climate change.

Our research themes

We explore the intersection of management and technology through research that revolves around three themes.

Entrepreneurship

We see entrepreneurship as a key competence to identify, seize and create opportunities that challenge existing and often unquestioned structures through unconventional thinking and critical reflection. Entrepreneurship is often seen as a driver of innovation and progress, and is an area of moving beyond the status quo to more digital and sustainable practices in business and society. In this sense, we see entrepreneurship as a way to create economic, environmental or social value.

Digital Transformation

As a mega-topic in business and society, we are dedicated to questions around the digital transformation in the areas of BigData, Internet of Things, and Social Media, investigating changing use habits, resource-saving potentials for increasing efficiency, and automation options. Among others, this orientation is reflected in ongoing research projects on Digit@l Entrepreneurship, E-Mental Health, E-Business, E-Commerce, Online Marketing, Knowledge Management and E-Learning.

Sustainable and responsible Management

We explore and promote ways to operate and use management and technology in more sustainable and responsible ways. Among other things, we explore psychological and organizational success factors for sustainable behavior and decision-making, draw attention to social entrepreneurship as a driver for sustainable and responsible management, shed light on ethical concerns related to digital technologies, and gain an understanding of more sustainable production and use of materials.
