ALMA PROMOTES RESEARCH CULTURE
With the ALMA Program, the University supports its members with their research and promotes a vibrant research culture oriented around international standards. Individual consultations and open events offer researchers the assistance they seek in questions of research planning and quality assurance. The focus of the Program is on third-party funding, project management, publication strategy and the evaluation process.
For researchers
Workshops
ALMA AS IMMERSION: ALMA INTENSIV
Offered in half-day to full-day formats, ALMA workshops are immersion offerings. The workshops convey broader "soft skills" or methods and consolidate these through practical exercises. Workshops are conducted in small groups of 10-15 people and are one to two days in length.
Topics
- Academic Publishing/Scientific Writing (various formats)
- Applying for International Cooperation Projects
- Workshops in Scientific Method (by arrangement).
Target group
The workshops are designed for experienced researchers/scientists and their teams.
Seminars
ALMA AS INSPIRATION: ALMA IMPULSE
Single seminars or semester-based seminar series that address topics in research management in short, compact form. Presenters include colleagues working in central facilities, administration or scholarly fields. The "Impulse" series thus enlists existing knowledge and experience within the University while integrating offerings in research support at the same time.
- Acquisition of funding
- Good Practices in project research
- Utilization of results and publication strategies
- Evaluation methods in the sciences
All seminars may also be requested as inspiration for institute- and team-level meetings.
Target group
Experienced researchers and young scientists alike are welcome to attend. Events with special knowledge and experience as a prerequisite are marked accordingly.
Exchange of experiences
ALMA AS INTERACTION: ALMA INTERAKTIV
In this ALMA building block, the focus is on an exchange of experiences among colleagues. We invite colleagues to present model projects or share their views as reviewers of scientific journals and funding programs.
RESEARCH ROUND TABLE
The concept behind the Research Round Table is to make use of the accumulated knowledge available at Leuphana and the experiences of the individual members of the University community. In addition to the energizing effect of the exchange, this provides young researchers in particular with assistance for projects of their own.
Advising
ALMA FOR YOU: ALMA INDIVIDUELL
Individual advising help produce clarity about strategies and objectives. For instance: Can the team be enlarged by tapping sources of external funding? Does it make sense to become more internationally networked for this purpose? What are the prospects of DFG (German Research Foundation) funding?
Content
Our advisors help researchers clarify the options open to them in their environment: establishment of collaborations, application for internal or external funding, profiling and publication strategy.
The decision to seek advice may provide a helpful aid to research planning, and for preparation/implementation of a target agreement or evaluation.
Hosts
Interested in an event of your own, in your institute or among your colleagues?
Research groups, institutes or departments are invited to initiate workshops or a round table for their respective areas. Hosts should be able to ensure a high and relevant level of participation by researchers from their professional community. The Research Service will bear the cost of the basic workshop on "Academic Publishing" and "Applying for International Cooperation Projects." Workshops on scientific methods may be funded by arrangement as well. In cases in which the topics to be addressed are highly specialized, pro rata funding may be available. As the convener/host of such an event, you are in charge of determining the content for the workshop, and for selecting presenters and attendees. The Research Service assists hosts in all organizational matters.
