The EU's funding program for research and innovation

On June 15, 2021, the official starting signal was given for the new EU research framework programme Horizon Europe, which, as the successor to Horizon 2020, will cover the entire chain from basic research to innovation to the market with a volume of almost 100 billion euros in the period 2021 to 2027. Horizon Europe aims to make Europe greener and more digital, as well as more innovative, resilient and participatory.

Selected events

♦ Online workshop of the National Contact Points "Digital and Industrial Technologies" (NCP DIT), "Climate, Energy, Mobility" (NCP KEM) and "Bioeconomy and Environment" (NCP B&U) on clusters 4, 5 and 6 in Horizon Europe:

  • On 1 and 2 June 2022, in the morning, the three NCPs will host an online workshop for those interested in the current EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe.The focus will be on clusters 4, 5 and 6. Participation in the event is free of charge, registration is required. Further information and the possibility to register for the event can be found here.

♦ Online event series of the National Contact Point Bioeconomy and Environment (NCP B&U) on Cluster 6 and the Missions in Horizon Europe:

    From June 7 to June 29, 2022, from 10 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m. each day, the NCP B&U will host a webinar series on Horizon Europe application preparation to learn about the various aspects of applying for the next calls. The webinar series is primarily aimed at interested parties who are preparing an application for the missions and the second stage of the current Cluster 6 calls (submission deadlines in early and late September 2022). ♦ Online event 'Horizon Europe Coordinators' Day' by the European Commission:

  • On June 15, 2022, the European Commission will host the Coordinators' Day via webstream to present the process of preparing the grant agreement and, among other things, the basic procedure from project commitment and the legal and financial aspects. The event is aimed in particular at coordinators and partners who have secured projects under Horizon Europe, but is also open to other interested parties. It will be held in English. Registration is not required. (more info)

♦ Webinar on how to apply for the MSCA Doctoral Networks (DN) 2022 in Horizon Europe:

  • On 21 June 2022, from 10-11 am, the National Contact Point Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (NCP MSC) will conduct an online workshop on the specifics of applying in the MSC Doctoral Networks. Participation in the event is free of charge, registration is required. The deadline for registration is 20 June 2022. Further information and the possibility to register for the event can be found here.

♦ Online Workshop for Newcomers in Horizon Europe by the National Contact Point Bioeconomy (NCP Bioeconomy):

  • On June 21-22, 2022, the NCP Bioeconomy will host an online workshop for those interested in applying to Cluster 6 in Horzon Europe. The workshop is specifically aimed at newcomers, who have little or no experience with applying for Horizon Europe or its predecessor Horizon 2020. Participation in the event is free of charge, registration is required. Further information and the possibility to register for the event can be found here.

♦ Announcement on the European Commission's Research & Innovations Days 2022:

  • On September 28-29, 2022, the European Commission will host the annual Research & Innovations Days (R&I Days). Organized by the EU Commission, the aim of this digital event is to discuss and shape the future of European research and innovation with various stakeholders. It takes place in English. (more info)
