Inhalt: COURSE DESCRIPTION With the increasing human pressure on ecosystems and cultural landscapes, one of the main challenges is to design and develop ecological restoration that supports the preservation of biodiversity, ecosystem services and livelihoods security. A central theme here is to integrate the ecological dimension with the socio-cultural dimension in order to create sustainable landscapes and equitable societies. Therefore, restoration does not only focus on ecological functions and biodiversity, but also on human communities, their knowledge and values. Indeed, restoration requires of society as agents of sustainable transformations. During the seminar we will examine why, what, who and for whom we restore nature and the students will have the opportunity to get knowledge of restoration practices in different ecosystems, regions of the world and different approaches.

Grundlagen Nachhaltiger Entwicklung (Vorlesung)

Inhalt: This course will cover theory, approaches and tools relating to sustainability and its 'management' at State, company and societal levels. By the end of the course you will understand the main ways that market democracies practice sustainability management, you will understand their limitations, you will learn of some ways forward and you will understand why these are frustratingly difficult to implement!

Soziale und kulturelle Nachhaltigkeit (Seminar)

Inhalt: Der Minor-Strang / die Minor-Richtung "Soziale und kulturelle Nachhaltigkeit" wird über vier Semester in Form eines aktivierenden, selbstorganisierten Projektseminars durchgeführt. Ein Wechsel des Strangs / der Richtung ist nur in begründeten Ausnahmefällen möglich! In selbst gesteuerten Kleingruppen (die Kleingruppen werden im ersten Minor-Semester gebildet) werden längerfristig - nationale und internationale - Themen der sozialen uind kulturellen Nachhaltigkeit aus den folgenden Handlungsfeldern (Beispiele!) in Projektform unter Anleitung bearbeitet und praktisch umgesetzt: - Erziehung, Bildung und Sozialisation (z.B. Bildungsaktivitäten für eine nachhaltige Entwiclung - BNE in der Grundschule) - Arbeitsmarktpolitik (z.B. Aktivitäten und Aktionen im Bereich der Jungendarbeitslosigkeit) - Raumplanung / Stadtplanung / Regionalplanung (z.B. Aktivitäten / Projekte im Bereich der behutsamen Stadterneuerung, der Wohnumfeldverbesserung oder der Rettung und Sanierung eines mittelalterlichen Stadtkerns) - Soziokultur (z.B. soziokulturelle Zwischennutzung in einem / soziokulturelle Umnutzung eines ehemaligen Fabrikgebäudes) - Museumspädagogik (z.B. Entwicklung eines neuen Museumskonzeptes) - Entwicklung der Zivilgesellschaft (z.B. Gründung und Förderung einer Bürgerinitiative in der Kommunalpolitik) - Arbeit mit Flüchtlingen (z.B. Entwicklung / Weiterentwicklung einer Flüchtlingszeitung) - Politische Jugendkulturarbeit (Entwicklung von Konzepten für die politische Jugendarbeit / Jugendkulturarbeit) - Theaterpädagogik (z.B. Planung, Vorbereitung und Durchführung einer Theaterproduktion) - Jugendhilfe / Gewaltprävention (z.B. Entwicklung eines Jugendhilfe-Pilotprojekts) - Gesundheitsprävention (z.B. Entwicklung von alternativen Ernährungsstrategien) - Gerechtigkeitspolitik (z.B. Beschäftigung mit Fragen der gerechten Einkommens- und Vermögensverteilung, Planung und Durchführung einer Initiative / eines Pilotprojektes) - Menschenrechtspolitik (z.B. Förderung und Unterstützung einer Menschenrechtsinitiative) Die Themen / Themenschwerpunkte / Projektideen / Praktika (auch im Ausland) werden im ersten Minorsemester vorbereitet und im Plenum entschieden. Die Arbeitsgruppen werden durch eine "Nachhaltigkeits"-Tutorin / einen "Nachhaltigkeits"-Tutor zusätzlich intensiv unterstützt, angeleitet und beraten.

Inhalt: The seminar "Sustainable Consumption" enables participants to apply various conceptual and theoretical approaches from the humanities and social sciences to the problem of consumption. The aim of the seminar is to provide students with basic knowledge on the topic of 'sustainable consumption' and to relate it to the concept of sustainable development.
