Inhalt: In this seminar, we will work with a variety of engaging texts from flash fiction and poetry to scholarly texts. Students will become familiar with a variety of reading strategies in a cooperative atmosphere. In addition, students will practice identifying purpose and organization of texts, while learning to read more critically and efficiently. All of these skills will help students to better master the challenges of reading a variety of university texts in English. Finally, I also hope that students will become more confident and passionate readers over the course of the semester.

Working with Writing. Englisch ab B1.2 (Seminar)

Inhalt: Part of this course will be done autonomously. In this course we will focus on writing in professional contexts. We will not be able to examine genres specific disciplines or professions (such as legal briefs or advertising copy). Instead we will focus on such aspects as clarity and concision, register and appropriateness, explanation and persuasion. After a close reading and discussion of your choice, you will write a brief essay using the techniques learned during the course.
