Inhalt: Nowadays, media professionals should be able to produce journalistic films with their smartphones, in which every single step is done by themselves. In this seminar, students will work like in a real online video editorial office. In addition, they will work on current challenges in the video market to understand the market environment. Practical examples will be used to illustrate how video journalists find exciting topics, implement them technically and which skills they will need in the future.

Inhalt: This seminar is very hands-on. The students will either undertake media-excursions in Hamburg and surrounding areas which will inspire them to execute special media projects in a very creative way. The students are free to choose the format of their seminar paper (for instance: reportage, podcast, video, essay, documentary), but mandatory is the application of an interview or at least elements of an interview. Since interview techniques/interview training are an essential part of the seminar. Included are also lectures of experienced media personalities like Arist von Harpe (publisher oft he Hamburger Morgenpost) oder Christopher Buschow (HMS). Another objective of the seminar is the expansion of the networks of the students.

Inhalt: Introduction to video journalism Resuming facts, explaining bigger contexts, telling other people’s stories – with videos. In this course we will establish basic criteria for video journalism in Germany and produce journalistic pieces for our own tv show that then will be published on TIDE TV.
