Inhalt: Jedes Semester veranstaltet das Zentrum für Demokratieforschung/Institut für Politikwissenschaft ein regelmäßiges fachbezogenes Forschungskolloquium - das sogenannte "Tuesday Seminar." In diesem stellen Mitglieder des Instituts und von auswärts geladene Gäste ihre aktuellen Forschungs- oder Buchprojekte vor und stellen sie zur kritischen aber fairen Diskussion unter Kollegen. Das Tuesday Seminar ist für interessierte Studierende sowie Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden offen und findet immer Dienstags von 16:00 bis 18:00 statt. Inhalt: Im Promotionskolloquium des Institutes für das Stadt- und Kulturraumforschung (IfSK) werden Doktorand_innen aus den Bereichen Baukultur und Kulturgeografie die Möglichkeit gegeben, ihre Forschungsansätze und -methoden zu präsentieren und interdisziplinär zu diskutieren. Themen der Baukultur als ein wesentliches Element der verantwortlichen Gestaltung unserer Umwelt, die betrachtet werden, sind: städtische Raumgestaltung und Aufenthaltsqualität, Gebäudegestaltung und künstlerischer Ausdruck, internationale kulturelle Zusammenhänge und inter- und transkulturelle Studien, Raumwahrnehmung und Raumdarstellung sowie die Baukultur als gesellschaftliche Aufgabe. In der Kulturgeographie spielt die Frage nach dem Bezug zum Raum eine wesentliche Rolle. Schwerpunkte bilden urbane Räume mit stadtgeographischen Fragestellungen zur geographischen Verkehrsforschung und zur Wirtschaftsgeographie.

Promotionskolloquium: Empirische Bildungsforschung (Kolloquium)

Inhalt: Lehrkräfte sind mit ihrem unterrichtlichen Angebot die zentralen Akteure für das Gelingen von Schule. Vor allem der professionellen Kompetenz von Lehrkräften kommt dabei eine entscheidende Rolle für die Qualität schulischen Lehrens und Lernens zu. Das evidenzbasierte Verstehen des (kausalen) Zusammenspiels von Lehr-Lern-Prozessen einerseits und der Professionalität von Lehrkräften sowohl in Ausbildung als auch Schuldienst andererseits stellt daher eine elementare Idee zur Qualitätsentwicklung von Schule dar. Im Promotionskolleg Empirische Bildungsforschung wird auf Basis eines breiten Empirie-Verständnisses aktuellen fachspezifischen und fachunabhängigen Fragen nach Modellierung, Erfassung, Genese, Entwicklung und Wirkung sowohl der Entwicklung von Unterricht als auch der Entwicklung professioneller Kompetenz von (angehenden) Lehrkräften nachgegangen.

Recent Advances on Sustainable Chemistry, Renewable Materials and Processes (Kolloquium)

Inhalt: The colloquium will deal with up-to-date research approaches on Sustainable Chemistry focusing on Renewable Materials, Circularity and Innovative Processes (especially, green and sustainable extraction/separation) and related content. Students will present their research projects and/or results, which can then be discussed with supervisors and other researchers. In addition, pertinent references will also be discussed (e.g. high impact scientific journals, books / chapters, regulations etc.).

Research Forum Engineering (Kolloquium)

Inhalt: The Research Forum is held as a joint event for all four doctoral programs of the Faculty of Management and Technology, as part of the M&T Conference Days. The individual Research Forums of each program are organized as parallel tracks, allowing participants to move freely between them. This format is intended to encourage attendees to look beyond their own field of expertise by attending presentations from other disciplines. This will ensure that you can stay up to date with the research group's activities. We will have: * a research group kick-off session (Tue, 14.04.2026, 16:15, C 6.316 / hybrid) * a general semester kick-off session (Fri, 24.04.2026, 16:00, C HS 3 / hybrid) * biweekly research forum meetings (Tue, 28.04., 12.05., 26.05., 09.06., 23.06., 07.07., 16:15, C 6.316 / hybrid) * the doctoral research conference day (organized at the School of Management and Technology, Fri, 10.07.2026) In the biweekly research forum meetings, you can present research that is at a preliminary stage. The purpose of these presentations is to help you improve your research project. Therefore, please prepare a presentation of a maximum of 10 minutes and conclude by asking questions and raising issues that help you advance your project. Consider the other participants as a resource to improve your work. During the Doctoral Conference Day at the end of the semester, you can present research that is at a more advanced stage. Typically, you give a presentation of a maximum of 15 minutes, including all parts of a paper. The Doctoral Conference Day will take place in person on campus.

Research Forum Sustainability Science (Kolloquium)

Inhalt: Goals of the forum A PhD thesis is a long journey that is demanding on many different levels: the topical focus, the theoretical foundations, and the methodological approaches build the core of every PhD thesis, and are enhanced by the development of the equally important soft skills. This forum offers an interdisciplinary space for exchange with other candidates from the School of Sustainability about your PhD thesis, to workshop and test ideas outside of the box, and to present important milestones of your journey. We’ll jointly set the agenda and facilitate each session according to the groups needs and interests: may it be literature research, methodological questions, or how to keep your motivation level up. Our aim is to take an emergent perspective on the challenges that PhDs are facing, to use the synergies within the forum to come up with solutions, and to make the PhD journey a collective endeavour.

Inhalt: Vorträge zu laufenden Forschungsarbeiten von Promovierenden und Wissenschaftlern des Instituts sowie von auswärtigen Gästen. Die Referenten sollten möglichst min. eine Woche vor dem Vortrag ihr Papier an Boris Hirsch schicken, der es dann für alle Teilnehmer zugänglich in MyStudy hochladen wird. Hierdurch sollen tiefergehende Diskussionen der Papiere ermöglicht werden. * im Seminarplan: Externe Gäste, mit denen wir vermutlich am Dienstagabend Essen gehen werden, wozu alle Interessierten gerne mitkommen können (Info bei Boris Hirsch).
