Study Abroad

Encouraging student mobility is a strategic objective of the university’s development plan.  Our mid-term goal is for half the students enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs to spend time studying abroad. At any stage in your education, whether as a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree student, a study abroad period is possible. It is an easy step to take, because the university administration, the individual schools, and the faculty all expressly support and encourage it.

The International Office is responsible for organizing the exchange programs and the student mobility and supporting students at every stage of their study abroad. In addition to the information available on our up-to-date website, we offer individual and group counseling. We also provide specialized information sessions and workshops and organize an international fair during the winter semester in which we present all available exchange programs.

Students interested in studying abroad may choose between participation in an exchange program with one of our partner universities or, if they want to study at a university with which we do not have a partnership agreement, by applying directly to a foreign university as a free mover.  In both cases, full academic recognition of the semester abroad is possible.  In order to avoid any uncertainties, it is recommended to check in advance whether courses to be taken at the host university are eligible for recognition at Leuphana.
