Open Access for Nature journals

2022-01-13 Free Open Access publishing and access to all Nature journals

From 2022, members of Leuphana are eligible to publish open access free of charge in Nature and in 34 Nature Research journals.

Thus, authors are waived the standard Nature open access article fee of 9,500 EUR. In addition, university members receive access to Nature's entire journal portfolio. Both components are made possible by a transformative agreement that the MIZ:Library has concluded with Springer Nature. The contract conditions are valid until the end of 2024.

Open Access publishing with Nature

A requirement for open access publishing at no charge is that the corresponding author is affiliated with Leuphana University of Lüneburg and indicates this institution when submitting the manuscript. In the title list, all journals can be filtered in which authors of Leuphana can publish open access free of charge (= Column H: Publishing Model = Transformative). Nature Reviews journals and Nature Protocols are not covered by the contract. Further information and an author guide can be found on the publisher's website.

This agreement is an extension of the existing DEAL agreement with Springer Nature, on the basis of which open access publishing in hybrid journals is free of charge and article fees in fully open access journals are discounted by 20%. Further information on the Springer-DEAL and the other publishing agreements can be found on the following website: https://www.leuphana.de/en/services/miz/forschen-publizieren/open-access/publisher-agreements.html
