How can I use the reeding room in the library?

The capacity of the reading room is currently limited to 140 people. All registered users can enter the reading room; library membership is required. Due to construction work, 125 seats are currently available. As construction progresses, additional workstations will be released in the coming weeks.

Prerequisite for admission to the reading room is:

3G regulation: A valid vaccination or recovery certificate must be presented or a valid certificate of a negative Corona test (not older than max. 24h). You can have a test done e.g. on campus on the ground floor of the central building between 7:30 and 14:00. Leuphana's statement of service is not sufficient for admission.
You register digitally at the check-in with your valid library card.
The maximum number of people in the reading room is less than 120 (current value is displayed on MIZ website up to the second).
You wear an FFP2 or medical mask on the ways to the place. No mask is required at the site itself.

No prior reservation or registration is required to use the reading room or individual workstations.

Why do I have to register to go to the reading room? (privacy policy)

For one thing, we count the users in order to limit the number of people in the reading room to 140. Aditionally, we record your user number and thus indirectly your name and contact details (surname, first name, address and telephone number) to fulfil our legal obligation to document the users of our library with their contact details. The data that we store in a secure database are the user number and the corresponding registration date. The storage process is carried out automatically when you check in or out with your library card. The data recorded by us is automatically deleted after 3 weeks. This procedure of electronic registration has been coordinated with the data protection officer of the Leuphana University.

For further details, data protection information and your rights in this context, please read the „Datenschutzhinweise für die Anwesenheitserfassung nach der SARS-CoV-2- Hygienerichtlinie (CoronaVO)“.

How can I return my books?
