The future of academic learning - A collaborative ”Hackathon” in Uppsala, Sweden (and online)

26. Sep - 30. Sep

Uppsala, 26–30 September 2022

Are you interested in strengthening your English skills while discovering the world of learning theories and multilogues? And you are a strong believer that education should include theory and practice but also adapt to a transforming society?

Then join (us at) the Hackathon in Sweden, where you will, in collaboration with professors and students from other European countries, help create new inspiring ways to interact and learn in an academic setting!

Four European institutions for higher education – Leuphana University (Lüneburg), Trnava University (Trnava), HFPH (Munich), and The Newman Institute (Uppsala) – are launching the project Blended Multilogues: Enhancing Transformation and Innovation in Higher Education. The aim of the project is to develop new innovative approaches to learning that enable collaboration on shared problems and transformative challenges such as sustainable development, responsible digitalization, smart mobility etc.

The vision is to bring together not only teachers and students but other interested parties and to create spaces for multidimensional dialogue, i.e. multilogues, where participants may interact both face to face and online.

On September 26–30, 2022, an open-space workshop – a ”Hackathon” – will take place at the Newman Institute in Uppsala, Sweden, and online. During this week, students and teachers will work together to collect ideas and solve problems. Drawing on the students’ and teachers’expertise, the Hackathon results in a collection of solutions – a Toolkit – best practices and visions that will help design future academic education.

There are two ways in which students can get involved:

  1. A limited number of students will be able to travel to Sweden to participate in the whole event in Uppsala from September 26 to September 30. Travel and accommodation will be covered for you and several meals (plus coffee) will be provided to you by the organizational team!
  2. There is also an online participation option for the Hackathon from September 28–29 (Wednesday–Thursday)

Are you interested in taking part?

  • What you need: English language skills, curiosity, openness
  • What you get: European exchange, networking experiences, insight into future learning settings, funding for expenses (travel/accommodation/coffee), certificate proving your participation in a project for academic pedagogical innovation

To apply for participation in the whole event and the trip to Sweden please send an email to multilogues@leuphana.de until Thursday June 30th.

In the email, you should let us who you are (e.g. which program you are studying), why you are interested in participating in the hackathon and what transformative challenge (such as sustainable entrepreneurship, responsible digitalization, smart mobility etc.) you are most passionate about!

Further Information about the schedule, travel arrangements etc. will follow in due time!
