Survey on Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Teaching at Leuphana

For the teaching service and the QPL project "Leuphana... auf dem Weg!" Dr. Bianca Vienni (Department for Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Teaching and Methods Centre) conducted a survey in the winter semester 2018/19 in order to record the educational offer at Leuphana on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching as well as the didactic methods used.

27 courses on this topic were identified and evaluated in the period from summer semester 2017 to summer semester 2018. 39 lecturers from all four faculties were interviewed.

The survey revealed different understandings of transdisciplinarity that influence teaching and learning. On the one hand in the sense of involving other actors in research projects and on the other hand by involving other disciplines. It also became clear that the additional effort of teachers and students is considered to be profitable and that the motivation to teach sensitively towards the boundaries of scientific disciplines is high.

A summary of the results can be found here.
