Meet/BigBlueButton
All Leuphana lecturers, staff and students can use the BigBlueButton video conferencing service via the Academic Cloud. The service is called “Meet” there. Meet/BBB can be used directly via the browser, no further installation is required.
The following functions are available:
- Video conferencing with sound, video & screen sharing
- Upload & show presentations (optional download for participants)
- Group work in breakout rooms
- Conducting surveys
- Etherpad for shared notes
- Whiteboard
- Annotation function for presentations (can also be done by several users)
- Chat
- Individual sessions with up to 100 people
The use of Meet/BBB is particularly recommended for meetings of study groups and similar gatherings. Students can also create and use meetings of unlimited length in compliance with the data protection regulations.
For the lecture/seminar session, we still recommend the use of Zoom, as experience has shown that this runs more stably with larger groups.
Meet/BBB and Academic Cloud are projects of the universities in Lower Saxony and are offered via the GWDG in Göttingen.
Access to Meet/BBB
Access is gained with the Leuphana account (not to be confused with the myStudy login credentials) via the website https://academiccloud.de. After logging in, the option Meet/Videoconferencing can be selected, which will take the user to the GWDG page. After selecting the “Login” button (top right), new meetings/rooms can be created directly.
