Climate Neutral University

Leuphana set itself the goal of climate neutrality in 2007 and achieved it in 2014.
With an integral view climate neutrality was implemented innovatively in teaching, research and operation. The university also included its neighbouring district in the project. Thus, Leuphana University contributes to the sustainable development of society and promotes appropriate competencies and social and technological innovations. The basis for achieving climate neutrality is the efficient use of energy and resources in all areas of the university. The topics are energy efficiency, the use of renewable energies, the promotion of climate-friendly mobility and sustainable procurement, which have been successively implemented and optimised in many individual measures.
Leuphana achieved its goal through climate-neutral energy supply, savings of 50 percent primary energy and 30 percent final energy

100 PERCENT GREEN ELECTRICITY

All locations at Leuphana have purchased 100 percent green electricity since January 2012. This is an important step towards on the path to becoming a climate-neutral university.
