University Culture

A university is a place where students and staff spend a lot of time. Together they create and shape a “university culture“ across the campus and throughout all schools and departments. Leuphana University offers its members places and opportunities in academic work, institutional practice and their daily lives, to influence the design of their environment and to become involved in the sustainable development of their university and society.
This promotion of informal learning is an important part of education towards a sustainable development

Student commitment

The student and volunteer commitment at Leuphana University is complex and extensive. More than 50 student initiatives are currently active on campus and carry their projects and measures with great energy and passion from the university context into society. In addition to established initiatives that have been working successfully for many years, such as ENACTUS and OIKOS (sustainable development) or RockYourLife (education), numerous students have devoted themselves to the topic of "integration of refugees" in various initiatives.
Honoured as part of the Dies Academicus and as pioneer in the field of refugee support as well as honoured by other universities, institutions and associations, the OPEN LECTURE HALL and the NO BORDER ACADEMY, in cooperation with the International Office of Leuphana University and in association with the "University without Borders" alliance, have made a significant contribution to the education of refugees and thus to their integration.
