Bus and train

Lüneburg is located on the main travel artery between Hannover and Hamburg. You can rent as well as park your bicycle at the train station.

Lüneburg is within the commuter zone for the Hamburg rapid transit system (HVV). To take the train from Hamburg to Lüneburg all you need is a train ticket.  You can reach customer the HVV service at the following telephone number: +

Travelling further by bus

Up to three buses that run along the 5001 route, stand ready at the same Lüneburg train station platform where trains from Hamburg arrive, ready to take Leuphana students either directly to the Scharnhorststraße campus in 13 minutes or via another route to serve the Rote Feld campus. The buses run according to the schedule for when lecture classes start and end.

In addition to the 5001 bus, students can also take the 5011 bus (towards Rettmer/Häcklingen) and the 5012 bus (towards Bockelsberg) to the Scharnhorststraße and Rotes Feld campuses. If you want to reach the Volgershall campus, then take the 5013 bus from the train station towards Reppenstedt.

The timetable of bus number 5011 and 5012 has changed. The busses are now leaving withing 15-minutes or 30-minutes - depending on whether it is peak or off-peak. Moreover, bus number 5600 directly stops at bus station Zentralgebäude.

Ride-Share Service

In the evening when buses are no longer running (after 9:00pm), the ASM ride-share service is available, which brings Leuphana students to their destination until 1:00 AM on workdays and Saturday nights/Sunday mornings until 3:00 AM for a reduced fare. You need to call in your desired destination to the ASM-dispatcher at least 30 minutes before the planned departure time. The phone number is +49.4131.533.44.
