Elaheh Nosratirad

Elaheh Nosratirad is a Ph.D. student in English linguistics and interlanguage pragmatics at the Institute of English Studies. She holds a MA degree in English Studies from National University of Malaysia (UKM). Her study follows pragmatic transfer and proficiency in apologies of male and female EFL speakers. She investigates how, why and when L1 transfer features happen, what the relationship is between language proficiency, gender, and pragmatic transfer and also what problems Iranian EFL speakers might face when they use pragmatic transfer in apologizing in the English language.

Title of her PhD project: "Individual Differences in EFL: The Effects of Sex and Cultural background on EFL Apologies"
