Inhalt: Recommender systems aim to help users navigate through web sites and recommend items/products that are likely of interest to the user. The algorithms thus need to know the content as well as the intent of the user. Economically, recommender systems are directly linked to revenue and business strategies. In the seminar, we'll study traditional and state-of the-art recommender systems and prototypical applications scenarios. We'll discuss characteristics, limitations, scalability issues and extensions such as personalization.

Seminar Maschinelles Lernen (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Ulf Brefeld

Inhalt: A seminar about machine learning. Topics include state-of-the-art algorithms (e.g., kernel machines, decision trees, neural networks etc.), learning scenarios (e.g, unsupervised, semi-supervised), types of data (sequential data, tree-structured data), etc. We also discuss state-of-the-art applications.
