Inhalt: The Klezmer and Jewish Music Workshop will give students the opportunity to explore the basics of Klezmer, Hassidic, Synagogue, and Jewish Chamber Music from the practical and theoretical viewpoints. We will examine how Jewish prayer modes have developed into other genres such as of folk-songs and dances while learning how to use these modes in performance and improvisation. The learning method of this class will be twofold: on the one hand, small groups will be working and preparing several fascinating treasures of chamber music based on Jewish folklore. On the other hand, the class will become a large Klezmer band to perform the traditional Jewish Wedding repertoire, also known as Klezmer Music. *** The class is open to instrumentalists (wind, brass, string, percussion, piano, etc.) as well as vocalists of all levels.
