Inhalt: In diesem Kolloquium sollen theoretische, methodische und empirische Fragen der Politikwissenschaft am Beispiel aktueller Untersuchungen und Projekte diskutiert werden. Das Kolloquium bietet Gelegenheit zur Präsentation und Diskussion von geplanten oder laufenden Examensarbeiten und Dissertationen aus dem Bereich der Politischen Theorie und Politikfeldanalyse, insbesondere zu Themen der politikwissenschaftlichen Umwelt- und Demokratieforschung. Darüber hinaus sollen interessante neuere Studien und Projekte zu ausgewählten Politikfeldern und zur Demokratietheorie vorgestellt und diskutiert werden. Ergänzt wird die Veranstaltung durch Vorträge externer Referentinnen und Referenten, die aktuelle Befunde und Thesen zur Diskussion stellen.

Inhalt: Environmental interests, social movements and the state This course will introduce you to thinking about the state and interests and theorizing on different aspects of it. The first part is an introduction to state theory which conceptualizes on the interests that are represented by the state and different state structures. The second part will focus on the interest groups and the theories explaining mobilization and protest. The third part will link the interests and state by showing theories explaining the success of the interest groups in the state. Last unit will introduce European/global level as a venue for representation of interests and theorizing on it. This theoretical background can be utilized in conceptualizing on different aspects of representation of environmental interests by interest groups and social movements.
