Digital Social Entrepreneurship (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Armin Rott

Termin:
14-täglich | Donnerstag | 09:45 - 13:15 | 27.10.2022 - 02.02.2023 | HMS | Ditze Hörsaal

Inhalt: This course is appropriate for students who will after their studies pursue a career in the digital economy or aim at continuing with a more career oriented focus (e.g., applying for an MBA rather than an M.A. or M.Sc. program). It is suitable for students thinking about starting their own (social) digital business, or are interested in working for a start-up, or a more intrapreneurial department within a company in more traditional industries facing the challenges of digitalization.

Platform Capitalism (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Milan Stürmer

Termin:
14-täglich | Donnerstag | 09:45 - 13:15 | 24.10.2022 - 03.02.2023 | HMS D22

Inhalt: From AirBnB to AWS, from Facebook to Siemens' MindSphere, from Rolls Royce's jet engines to India's Aadhaar, few major economic players and even nation states have not, in some way or another, embraced "the platform-model." But what do we mean when we call something a platform? In this seminar, we will try to make sense of a range of phenomena hiding behind the broad term "platform" by looking at their history in car manufacturing, the economics of some of today's major platforms, as well as their political implications for both party politics and workplace organizing and the "epistemic chaos of platform capitalism" (Carrigan and Fatsis, 2021) in public discourse. At the end of the seminar, we will try to evaluate the affordances of the platform model and discuss its possible futures.
